We’ve been invited to place units at a couple fields that are part of a study by reseachers from Hull University. One of the fields provides peas to a large multinational food retailer. This study allows us a chance to test our units against yet another competitor’s much more expensive units.

Working with the Bradford council flood team we were able to install a small cluster of 6 units up on Ilkley Moor in advance of rumoured lockdown next week. The units are well up Backstone Beck and we are examining how soil saturation in this area is a predictor of flooding further into Ilkley.

Fascinating look back at last month’s soil moisture data at one location. As the rain soaks in, the 4 zones change %VWC. 4 zones x 11.5cm each down to 50cm depth. The top zone (-1.0cm to -12.5cm) starts off drier than zone 2 or 3, respond immediately to rain, and then drains quickly.
